Wild Kelburn Forest School

Wild Kelburn Forest School

 Forest school activities are wild!

With lots of variety in our woodland there will be plenty to enchant our young explorers  both at Forest Tots and at Junior Rangers.

Our aim is to promote learning in the outdoors through activity, exploration, individual and group challenges while nurturing a relationship with nature. Please read more below or contact Jo Turner, our Head Education Ranger at: jo@kelburncountrycentre.com  or call 01475 568 685

This is all about fun in the forest while the children learn through play and exploration.  It is coordinated by Kelburn Ranger, Jo Turner, who is a qualified Forest School Leader.  Children are to be accompanied by a grown* up and bring a little snack for both child and adult.  Adults will be asked to get involved and we will shape the session around the needs of the whole group with rests for all.

*On a Monday session for children aged 4 years, who have attended at least 4 sessions with adult supervision, there is an option for the adult to stay onsite but not supervise within the group.

The ethos is to nuture development in this amazing outdoor setting and with all the facilities in place at Kelburn, all that is required is good kit and some enthusiasm.

The Ranger Centre is our meeting point and gives us an ideal base, providing an indoor area supporting the forest school activities.  Kelburn's Castle and history will also feature as part of the afterschool club and it is hoped they will gain an insight to this amazing estate, which has been owned by the same family for over 800 years.

To participate, we require kids to have good outdoor clothing, including footwear and a change of clothes if arriving in school uniform.  We have changing facilities available and encourage them to be prepared and enthusiastic!
