Job Description:
We are looking for friendly and hardworking individuals to join our team of Visitor Experience Assistants. VEA’s at Kelburn are an essential part of the team and ensure the smooth and safe operation of Admissions and Parking, Retail, Events, Tours, School visits and Glamping.
We are recruiting for members to work across all elements of the role, including general housekeeping and site presentation. There will be an emphasis on training core staff members to manage the weekly accommodation turnarounds for our busy Glamping business. As we are a tourist facility, some weekend working will be required.
Key Duties:
- To always provide a consistently high standard of visitor care
- To welcome visitors to the site and process their car entry, admission, retail purchase in a friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable manner
- To answer visitors’ queries about the site and the local area
- To provide information about the site, its history, contents, offers and merchandise
- To always maintain excellent standards of site and personal presentation, including wearing uniform and any required PPE
- To ensure the general ongoing operational cleaning of all areas as necessary, this includes: toilet cleaning, emptying waste bins and as appropriate vacuum cleaning, mopping, sweeping, dusting and polishing when required
- To ensure site and area of work is safe and ready to open
- To report all issues of safety, damage and maintenance to the Manager
- To ensure all accidents and incidents are logged
- To promote our range of products including upselling of events
- To adhere to all financial procedures including till operations and safeguarding of monies
- To assist in the set up and change over of our Yurts, such as stripping and making beds, shower cleaning, delivering fire wood, ensuring that the communal Bothy is clean and tidy (e.g. fridge cleaning, dishes, cleaning of cooking facilities, ensuring stove is swept)
Required attributes:
- Demonstrable skills in a customer-facing role: sales or ticketing, events, admissions, holiday accommodation and/or retail
- Excellent “front of house” approach with a proactive attitude towards customer service and problem solving
- Confident and engaging communication skills across all levels
- Knowledge and competence of EPOS till operation or similar IT competence
- Good cash handling and reconciliation skills
- Demonstrable knowledge of sales techniques
- Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise given workload
- Physical ability to carry and move items of stock and undertake physical tasks commensurate with the role
Desirable attributes:
- At least 1 year experience in a customer-facing role, particularly in a heritage/tourism/hospitality environment.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety
- A full UK driving licence
- First Aider
Please note that, whereas there may be additional work available, this recruitment is for our high season between March and November. Weekend and bank holiday work is expected.
